Free Library Card: All residents of Clinton are eligible for a free library card. To register, you must present some form of identification showing your current address. Lost cards cost $1.00 to replace.

Open Access: The Clinton Public Library participates in Open Access, a state-funded program for free library service to Iowa residents. Borrowers from other libraries, which also participate in Open Access, may register at the Clinton Public Library for a free library card.

Borrowing: Most books may be borrowed for 21 days. New books 7, 14 or 21days. Magazines 7 days.

Fines are .10 cents per item per day.

 

Interlibrary Loan:

Starting July 1, 2005 there will be a $1.25 non-refundable processing fee for each Interlibrary Loan request

 

If we don't have the material you are looking for ask for help and we will be glad to explain all the requirements to do an Interlibrary Loan.

 

Non-Print Materials: The library has a variety of non-print materials available for check out: Videos, Books on Tape, CD's, DVDs  and Cassettes.

Drop Box: The library has a book drop available at both the Main and Lyons branches that can be used anytime of the day or night to return books. We ask that you do not put any audio-visual materials or magazines in the drop box.

Homebound Program: Delivery of materials to individuals unable to get to the library can be arranged by calling the Homebound Coordinator at 242-8441. If you are interested in volunteering for this program, please call the Homebound Coordinator.

Library Web Site : The Clinton Public Library now has a web site.  Come visit us at http://users.cis.net/clintonlibrary Check out the web site for upcoming events, hours of operation, and children’s events. 

 

Internet Access: The library has computer terminals dedicated to the public for Internet access. Present a current and fine-free card or sign up for a Clinton Public Library card and start surfing. Children under 14 must have parental approval. Check out these sites: EbscoHost, HeritageQuest, SILO (Iowa Book Locater) and Iowa Job Search.

Help is always available, just ask.

Dial-Pac: Use your computer to search our collection from home. Obtain information at the front desk. This is not the Internet.

Special Collections: Fiction and Non-fiction large print books, English As A Second Language, Adult Literacy, Local History and Easy Readers.

Business and Financial: The library has U.S. and International business and manufacturing directories, information on corporations, investments, stocks, bonds, how to start a new business, marketing strategies, management strategies and much more. Included is the Irene Core Collection of Grant &Funding sources for non- profit organizations. Limited circulation time. 

Telephone Books: The library has telephone directories for cities within Iowa as well as several major cities across the United States. 

Pamphlets: There are over 3,900 pamphlets available on a wide variety of topics for you to check out. The Clinton Public Library is a state government depository and has publications published by the Iowa State government. 

Magazines: The library has over 236 titles covering a variety of subjects. 

Newspapers: The library subscribes to over 20 different newspapers both locally and nationally. Current issues are housed in our  leisure reading room. 

Tax Forms: Each January the library receives State and Federal Tax forms. The library also has many books in the collection for help in filling out those forms. 

Photocopying: The library has photocopiers available on the main floor and the Periodical Room for your use. The cost per copy is .10 cents. 

Genealogy & Local History: Materials relating to Clinton and the surrounding area can be found in the locked cases on the main floor or in the Periodical Room (Root Cellar)  located in the basement.

Microfilm: Located in the Root Cellar, our collection includes the Clinton Herald, the New York Times. Newsweek and Time magazines. Census records are also available. Three reader printers are available for your use. You may call to reserve a time.

Children's Programs: The Juvenile Department has outstanding programs for children pre-school through sixth grade and Young Adults. There are story times, guest readers, puppet shows, and the summer reading program.

Story Line: Children as well as adults can telephone the library to hear a story or a fairy tale by calling Dial-A-Story at 243-7222 

Meeting Room: The meeting room may be scheduled for use by local non-profit organizations. To schedule a time, please call 242-5436.

Honor or Memorial Books: A book may be purchased in memory or in honor of a relative or friend by donating the money toward a selected book. The library staff is happy to assist you in the selection of a book as a gift. 

Friends of the Library: This organization actively supports the library by sponsoring book sales, programs, and the purchase of materials and equipment. If you are interested in becoming a member, please call  242-844l.
